If You Are Pregnant
After confirming your pregnancy with a doctor, please file a Pregnancy Notification form. You will be issued a Mother-Child Health Handbook (Boshi Kenko Techo) and Health Checkup Card for Pregnant Women. The Pregnancy Notification form is available at the Health Section, Shinagawa Dai-ichi Chiiki Center, Osaki Dai-ichi Chiiki Center, Oi Dai-ichi Chiiki Center, Ebara Dai-ichi Chiiki Center, Ebara Dai-yon Chiiki Center, Yashio Chiiki Center, Shinagawa Hoken Center (Shinagawa Health Service Center), Oi Hoken Center (Oi Health Service Center), and Ebara Hoken Center (Ebara Health Service Center).

Pregnancy Health Checkups
If you take your Health Checkup Slip for Pregnant Women to a contracted medical institution in the metropolitan area, the fee for the health checkup written on the slip will be subsidized. (There are 14 slips in total.) In addition, with the Ultrasound Checkup Slip for Pregnant Women (1 slip), you can receive a subsidized ultrasound test.
You can also receive one dental checkup free of charge.

Infant and Toddler Health Checkups and Health Consultation Services (Consultation Centers for When You Have a Problem)
Health checkups are available for children who are four months, one and a half years and three years of age. There are also dental checkups for children who are two years of age and consultation services on child health and development, psychological concerns, raising children who have chronic diseases, and illness-prevention, such as for asthma.

Nursery School
Nursery schools are children’s welfare facilities that provide child care for children whose parents or guardians work or are ill. The monthly nursery school fee is determined depending on the tax amount paid by the family for the previous year.
To enroll your child in nursery school, please complete a Nursery School Admission application form and submit the completed form to either the Entrance Consultation Subsection of the Nursery Section in the City Office or to the nursery school of your first choice.

Special Childcare
If a child is ill and the parent cannnot take a day off from work, a medical institution can take care of the child.

Temporary Childcare
A municipal nursery school can take care of children temporarily if childcare cannot be provided at home because a parent is ill or giving birth.

Living Assistance-Type Temporary Childcare “Oasis Room”
A municipal nursery school can take care of children while mothers who take care of their children at home step out to see the doctor on an outpatient basis, go shopping, go to a culture school class, or work on a temporary/short-time basis.
